Artist Bio
Andrew duPont
Dupont’s large scale works allow the viewer to immerse themselves in a sonic sea of color, with a nod to the freedom of brushwork and palette that Monet's late water lily paintings embodied. His free approach to painting is the beginning of this young artist's development of his own vision.
Born in Danvers, Massachusetts 1969. Lives and works in Athens, New York.
Education
BFA, School of Visual and Performing Arts, Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY 1987-1992
Tracing Steps
After finishing his education, duPont moved to NYC where he painted and exhibited for the next five years. In 1997, duPont moved to Copenhagen, Denmark where he joined an artists collective there and in the years that followed was involved in numerous exhibitions including both of the country's juried exhibitions. In 2001, five of his works were purchased by the Danish State Art Foundation (Statens Kunst Fond). In November of 2003 duPont returned to the United States.
