Jonah Meyer Biography

.....Jonah Meyer comes from a family of artisans. Growing up he was surrounded by people always "making things". His mother is a ceramicist; his father and brother are both goldsmiths.

Meyer is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of design. He spent a year in Rome studying Art History and Painting and has been influenced by time spent in India and Europe. He left RISD in'92 and moved to the Catskills to pursue a career in art. For eight years he focused on making "art furniture" working out of his studio in Woodstock. This furniture is in the collections of legendary furniture artists Gary Knox Bennett, Marshall Chess (Chess Records), Mignon Durham, Director of Penland School of Art, and Harrison Ford, among others. His work has also appeared in several publications, including Sculpture, American Style, Philadelphia Architectural Magazine, Furniture Style, and Interior Design.

He gradually began sculpting and recently returned to painting. He now works in his Kingston, NY loft.
