WINTER COLLECTION at CARRIE HADDAD GALLERY
NOV.28 - JAN.4
Gallery favorites Jane Bloodgood-Abrams
and Harry Orlyk share the bill at
Carrie Haddad Gallery's Winter Collection exhibit November 28th -
January 4th. Both of these New York landscape painters have shown
with Haddad for several years and have developed a large audience.
Jane Bloodgood-Abram's style of
painting is inspired by the works of George Inness and the Hudson
River School painters. Her views of the Hudson River Valley are
attempts to convey the spiritual *essence of a moment in nature.
They are intimate portrayals of our surrounding vistas.
Harry Orlyk paints the quickly
disappearing farmland of America. Orlyk makes his home in Salem,
NY which is one of the most beautiful areas in the state. He is
surrounded by farms and is inspired by the honest, hardworking
people that make their living off the land on which they live.
Orlyk's canvases, covered in thick, colorful paint, are filled
with emotion and a reverence for his subject.
Also included in the show is Hudson Valley artists
Dale Payson and
Ramon Lascano.
Payson studied at the School of
Visual Arts in New York, and has exhibited at many galleries in
New York City and along the East Coast. Before painting became her
sole ambition, she illustrated more than twenty-five books for
children. Her bold, luscious oil on canvas still lifes are painted
with thick, wide strokes and are filled with warm light and
comfort.
Ramon Lascano returns to the gallery
after a very successful summer show of his unique altered book
art. Lascano takes ordinary books and transforms them into
intricate textural forms -- rhomboids, squares and columns.
The Upstairs Photography Gallery will feature photographs by
Anne Arden McDonald. McDonald was
born in London, England and grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. From age
15 to 30 she made self portraits, building installations in the
landscape or abandoned interiors and making private performances
for her camera in these spaces. In the past 10 years she has had
30 solo exhibitions in 10 countries and has been published
extensively, most recently in Aperture Magazine. Her work is in
the collections of 5 major museums and she is represented by
several galleries, including Sarah Morthland in New York and Photo
Eye in Santa Fe.
The Carrie Haddad Gallery is located at 622 Warren Street in
Hudson, NY.
